Hi everyone/anyone!
Just after a bit of advice, My daughter wants to get into Cosplay (something I’ve never done) hopefully some of you kind people can point us in the right direction, with a few answers:
Is it better to make your own outfits?
Is it frowned upon if you just buy a pre made costume?
Where’s best to purchase costumes/quality if that’s the way to go?
Based in Manchester also if that helps/
Kind regards
MBG

Yeah it might work out cheaper to make your own but there is nothing wrong with buying a costume. I am not experienced in cosplay to be honest but in all instances I have just used what I have already and just get little bits. Hope that helps

Used to do Renaissance Fairs, which is really just historical cosplay with color restrictions.
There's nothing wrong with using a ready-made outfit, and anyone who tells you otherwise is just being a pain in the neck. Few know how to make shoes, for example, much less have the equipment for it.
If you're lucky, you can find a group who can help with putting together your daughter's outfit. She may have friends who are into cosplay as well, so parents can group together. There are also books, sometimes patterns, and lots of helpful crafting videos.

Apologies for deleting the above post, I believe that was a bot advertising a link to a gambling site :/

Mary from Kakegurui
This outfit is totally doable. Should be easy to source. Pleated skirt should be easy to sew, depending on available skills. Satin ribbon bowtie with a snap, just need to be careful doing the edges. Suggest the jacket is purchased as they are very hard to get done right.
Hatsune Miku - There's a lot of people making this outfit, not hard to find at all. You can even find sewing patterns!
